Like many great businesses, 3A Steelworks began as a hobby. When time allowed between running other fabrication businesses the director, Jimmy Goddard, and his team would get creative with steel, and the resulting pieces were displayed in the grounds around the workshop as decorative pieces. Over time, we received so much interest from customers visiting the workshop, we decided to set up a business to concentrate on this really exciting opportunity.
The 3A Steelworks team is as eclectic as its products and perfectly placed to fabricate extraordinary and functional landscape features. As well as a wealth of fabrication expertise, the team also consists of backgrounds in garden design, landscaping, logistics and construction, these all come into play when designing our pieces.
Ideas start on the white board, of which we have numerous dotted around ready to capture moments of inspiration.
If an idea looks promising, it’s meeting time with more team members to look at the realistic prospect of being able to fabricate and ship at a reasonable price point.
If it’s get through the whiteboard stage it’s onto the drawing board for refining details and scale drawings, here designs continue to evolve and the intricacies of its fabrication are considered.
When we are happy we have the best version possible, it’s onto the workshop to bring the idea to life!
This is where it gets even more interesting. Seeing an idea rise from the whiteboard into a physical construction never ceases to get us excited.
That said, only a small number make the final grade. We will always opt for a smaller range of products we consider to be perfect, rather than water down with any we feel don’t quite make the grade!
Everything we sell must be unique, serve its purpose, have a lifespan in excess of 25 years and be cost-effective. Oh, and of course it must look fabulous!
Our clients are both the trade and domestic, with our products regularly specified by designers. Whatever the background, all of our clients are looking for statement pieces to set their scheme apart and defy the norm.
