Corten Planters

We had to have a corten planter in our range, and we had to do something which had not been done before. More importantly, we had to make it eye-catching and functional.

The Corten Planters we feel answer the brief and then some, they appear to defy physics by balancing on a point. Made from a 3mm thick Corten steel sheet, these are heavier duty than any other corten pots we have seen. At 1.6 metres, they are big too.

The tapered sides and bottom make them ideal for planting with trailing plants where they can truly hang. We think Ivy, periwinkle or trailing Rosemary would be ideal contenders with a central upright grower such as Phormium or Cordyline, or maybe a single topiary ball would be perfect. We digress. What you do with them is up to you!

They have enough structural prowess left unplanted as features in their own right.

Corten Planters inspiration

More information

Corten was an obvious choice for these containers, it works so well aesthetically with foliage.

Corten steel won’t rot and creates the clean lines we like.

Stable and beautiful steel planters

The large X base provides stability without being buried, but we feel it’s for aesthetics it’s best to bury or hide the base and set the corten planter point at ground level as it is in the photo above.

Installation is straightforward, the stand is already fixed to the planter, and there is no assembly required. They can simply be placed onto a hard surface or sink the base into the ground or paving. Ensure the ground is firm and if there is any doubt lay a small concrete pad or concrete the base itself in a hole.

Please be mindful that the base is likely to rust stain light-coloured paving.

FAQs about corten planters

Our corten planters look amazing anywhere. Sturdy, stunning and a superb addition to any outdoor space.

Everything above ground, the body of the pot is made from 3mm thick Corten steel, also known as weathering steel.

This has even more longevity and quickly develops the orange tones Corten steel is famed for. The base is made from mild steel.

The lifespan does depend on atmospheric conditions but as a worse case scenario our pots will be looking good for in excess of 35 years.

Yes we can, it’s likely to increase lead times slightly, please get in touch.

The wide legs provide ample stability even if the pot is left unfilled in an exposed location. The base does need to sit on a hard, level surface or be buried.

Yes. Whilst being artistic pieces, our corten pots can still be filled and planted.

Yes they do, there is no assembly required. It doesn’t make them easy to ship but it’s certainly a lot easier for you!

We will use the pallet network or if we have other deliveries in your area we will send our own drivers out to you.
