Inspired by one of the most architectural plants in the UK, the Phormium. Our galvanised and corten steel interpretations are a perennial eye-catcher.
We feel these sculptures work best within a planting or a lawn, where they generate intrigue and provide an interesting juxtaposition to their ever-changing natural surroundings.
We have set a number of the steel Phormium sculptures of varying sizes within wildflower areas around our workshop, they add another layer of interest and contrast with the delicate flowers and foliage. To our surprise, they are often mistaken for real plants until closer inspection reveals their metallic form.

Our Phormium sculptures are corten steel or galvanised. Made from a solid 3mm thick plate, they will look good for at least 36 years.
As always, we are happy to experiment and go “off-piste”. Why not add a central flower stem? Or we could grind off the galvanising from the tips of some hanging leaves to allow the steel here to rust, giving the impression they have died off. We could powder coat them to any colour. Why not go bold with, say, an orange and lime green combo?
The sculptures are supplied with base plates as standard, we can also extend the leg for burying or concreting in position. Please advise if so, as the base plate is the standard option.

Our Phormium sculptures are striking and unique features that stand out in any garden. Made from galvanised steel, they add a bold architectural element to your outdoor space, bringing both intrigue and timeless beauty.
Yes, there is no assembly required, we shrink wrap them to make them more manageable and some foliage may need bending down slightly depending on how open you want the sculptures to be. This can be done by hand and allows you some scope to personalise your new sculptures.
Both. Please note however, as standard they come with an extended leg for digging in the ground. If siting them on a hard surface, we can supply them with a baseplate, but we would need to know on ordering if this is the case.
The default is to galvanise these, however we have supplied them as bare steel which can left to weather naturally to brown or a mix of both weathered and galvanised for an interesting contrast. We can also powder coat them into any colour.
They are ideal for setting within existing planting schemes adding unique points of all year interest, becoming even more prevalent during the winter when planting schemes go into dormancy. Or set them on paving or on a lawn where they really demand attention. Or, like us, place your sculptures in more wild areas such a long grass or wild flowers, despite being made of steel they bed in surprisingly well and provide a pleasing juxtaposition to a naturalistic scheme.
Based on what we know about 3mm thick galvanised steel, in typical conditions these sculpture will be looking good for in excess of 50 years.
