We don’t know why we don’t see more of these in today’s landscapes, they are so effective and versatile. Our steel fins are available in various heights to suit any setting and purpose.
They come separately and can be arranged in straight lines or curves and set at any angle depending on the degree of screen required. Typically, they are fixed in a Louvre style to allow a partial view through at certain angles. This is useful in the world of design when trying to divide spaces at the same time as allowing glimpses through at points to tease and encourage further exploration.
Each fin has a baseplate with holes for bolting down to a hard surface such as a narrow concrete footing or existing hard standing.
Made from solid steel, the fins will last over a lifetime. They can be used to add year-round, structure or a weathered steel element to a planting scheme. On a practical level, they are ideal for dividing a garden, screening unsightly features or simply as a statement in their own right.
Our steel fins are especially useful for leading the eye around the garden, snaking their way into shrubs or disappearing around a corner to generate intrigue and encourage onlookers to explore.
The Steel Fins are all 200mm wide and available in 3 heights, 1 metre, 1.5 metres and 1.8 metres.
The fins are ideal for channelling the view to a vista, screening or simply as a feature in their own right. They cast interesting shadows. While they are straightforward in construction, it’s unlikely that onlookers will have seen anything like them.
They are typically supplied as untreated mild steel. We feel they are best left to weather naturally as shown in the images above, although they could be painted. We can also supply these as hot-dipped galvanised for a contemporary look or corten which is a slightly lighter orange colour once weathered. Please get in touch for more information and prices on these.
The fins can be bolted onto existing concrete or paved surfaces. A new narrow concrete footing can be laid to fix the fins into position. Expanding bolts or threaded bars with resin are ideal methods for securing the base plates into the floor.

Our steel fins make a striking addition to any landscape. Sturdy, visually captivating, and versatile, they’re perfect for creating dynamic, functional spaces that inspire exploration.
Their longevity depends on atmospheric conditions, but in the worst case scenario, our fins will be looking lovely for in excess of 40 years.
Yes, they are secured to a hard base such as concrete. The base plates have pre-drilled holes. Simply drill holes in the concrete to align with those on the base plates and fix the base plates down with expanding bolts or threaded bar and resin. We are happy to advise on any aspect of installation.
We use mild steel, it weathers beautifully, it is durable and has an excellent life span.
Yes, and we are happy to provide advice from a design perspective.
Yes, if you wish. We would recommend leaving them to weather naturally though, as this eliminates the need for any maintenance.
There is no maintenance required. You may wish to clean them at times, but it’s not required in order to improve lifespan or functionality.
Yes, this also provide an option for two types of finish. Stick with the standard shiny silver galvanised surface for a contemporary look, or apply an acid wash to dull the galvanised surface giving it an antique, dusty grey finish. We can do this for you or provide images to help you to decide which best fits your scheme.
Yes, they can follow any base to which they are attached. Also consider stepping them. Maybe use a combination of different height fins, so the tops are in a level line despite the stepped ground.
