Why follow the masses with the usual black plastic metal arches or timber options available at almost every garden centre in the UK?
We have not seen anything on the market to offer us inspiration, so we wiped the design board with these to start from scratch and came up with… the steel Tusk garden arches.
Typically, arches exist to mark the way into an area of the garden or as a feature in themselves. They should be eye-catching and generate intrigue to encourage further exploration into what’s beyond. We feel the tusk garden arches do just that. All you need to do is ensure the destination is as impressive as your new arch would imply!
The tusk arch takes on a living form so while visually dramatic they bed beautifully within the landscape, in fact, they almost appear to be growing from it.
Each tusk is separate and can be spaced any distance from the one opposing, thereby increasing or decreasing the width of the arch.
Or take it a step further and create a highly contemporary walkway or pagoda with any number of tusks. We can supply them with joining galvanised rails which are fed through the tusks and attached with fixings provided. The rails provide a connection between the tusks, creating a walk-through pagoda and support for climbing plants if desired.
The tusk garden arches are made from solid mild steel they can be left to weather naturally as in the photos, or we can galvanise them for a contemporary silver finish.
If opting for the galvanised tusk walkway, we would supply them with mild steel tubes which will weather to brown and contrast with a silver galvanised finish (unless you advise us otherwise).
The dimensions below are indicative of the arch or pagoda walkway, it can be installed in any configuration.
We are excited about these and see numerous possibilities, for example, the tusk tips could be secured to a wall to make a one-sided lean arch or walkway. Or adorn them with plants, get romantic and opt for those with pendulous flowers such as Wisteria, Campsis or Laburnum. The height of the arch will keep the flowers above head height, and their shape will create a romantic feature even when not in flower or leaf.
Here the tusks are installed on either side of a path through a wildflower walk, they help to create a sense of intimacy but also a dramatic talking point.
Each tusk garden arch comes with a 6mm thick steel baseplate predrilled with 4 holes. These are bolted onto concrete or similar hard surfaces. If you’re starting from scratch, we recommend a concrete base measuring 0.5m cube. Or we can supply a fixing kit for securing directly into the wet concrete (like a fence post). Please note that using this method, the tusk garden arch or pergola must be supported while the concrete is set.
Erecting multiple tusks to create a pagoda or walkway is simple. Secure the two end tusks and ensure they are level, then use these to run a string line to position those inside. Once installed, thread the rails through the tusks and secure them using their built-in pipe clamps.
Whatever the setting, the tusk garden archway is a bold choice, it will uplift any scheme and display a desire to be different and break away from the boring!

Our Tusk Garden Arches make a bold statement anywhere. Striking, durable, and a standout addition to any garden or outdoor space.
Being made entirely of steel, the lifespan of our arch is at least 25 years.
Providing you can dig a hole and mix concrete, installation should be a breeze. There are two methods, either lay a concrete foundation around 0.5m sq and bolt the base plates to it once set. Or you can use the optional leg extensions which are put into the wet concrete mix and the arch base plates simply bolt to them once dry. This saves drilling concrete.
Yes, while the weathered steel is the default we can offer a galvanised finish too, this is a permanent silver/grey zinc coating.
Due to the simple bold structure we would recommend climbers with a strong woody framework which can be tied in as it grows, these include Rambling Roses, Tracleosperumum Jasminioides for amazing scent or our first choice or Wisteria for its fragrant pendulous blooms.
Delivery methods depend partly on location, the individual “arch tusks” will either be shipped on a triple width pallet or delivered via van or trailer using our own drivers. They can be lifted by hand with relative ease, with each one weighing around 23kg.
If you live within 50 miles of us at PE31 8NB, we can install your arch (please enquire for a quote). If you’re outside this area, please get in touch, as we may be able to recommend an installer we have worked with before. However, installing the arch is really simple, and we are on hand with advice if needed.
There is no limit, you can connect as many together as you wish, with up to 4 metres between them on each side.
Currently, we solely offer the tusk arches, we will consider other designs, please get in touch.
