The Process

We begin by choosing a popular garden feature so we know there is demand in its current form, and then we get creative. We make it more durable, more dramatic and more extraordinary. Taking inspiration from all areas of life, this is not a process which can be rushed, we sow the seed and see what comes.

The whole team is involved at points during the design process, as so often a designer’s dream is a fabricator’s nightmare! As well as having a maximum visual impact, designs need to be practical, stable, simple to install and cost-effective, we also have to be able to ship it to anywhere in the UK within four pallet spaces.

Once a design has been decided on, we set to work fabricating, using a variety of techniques and materials. During this time, the design is often tweaked as improvements in aesthetics and fabrication are discovered. It’s a time when our steel scrap bin fills up fast!

In some cases, the design may not even reach the final stages if it doesn’t perform or look as we had hoped, it’s in the scrap bin for recycling.

We know we have got it right when there are lots of interest and comments within the team, the excitement in the workshop is palpable. It’s a great feeling.

No matter how much resource has been put into producing a new product, if it doesn’t get us excited, it won’t make the final cut.

The garden is a precious space and every opportunity should be taken to express and impress.
